Itaewon has its own manifold culture; it is like an island in Seoul. The area is close to a US army base, and is home for an Islamic temple, gay clubs, store signs in foreign languages, and boisterous streets and a wealthy town with poor people. I came to know that both the photographer for this project and I spent our childhood in Itaewon. Maybe, I was confused because of the dual images of Itaewon subconsciously held in my mind. I created images of Korea by presenting fragmentary images of Itaewon.
